Rini Das has over ten years of experience helping organizations navigate large-scale change. As President of RD Management Consulting, Inc., she has brought the benefits of business improvement to service and transactional businesses as well as manufacturing companies.

Rini’s clients -- who range from regional to multinational -- have included a credit card and data processing concern, pharmaceuticals, a diversified manufacturer, a benefits-outsourcing firm, a defense contractor, an insurance brokerage house, a financial services provider, healthcare delivery systems, HMOs, a consumer products company, and an insurance brokerage house.

Rini always strives to help her clients increase shareholder value. To achieve this, she has provided assistance in a number of areas:

Engage Leaders

  • Established Leveraged Services for all indirect functions of a multi-billion dollar defense company to reduce operating costs after major M&A activities. This required engaging leadership across all support functions, and establishing buy-in among executive leadership.
  • Deployed a Lean Six Sigma program in a pharmaceutical company, starting with executive and champion mentoring and training. Helped them to define their roles in the deployment, and in day-to-day issues of managing change.
  • Prioritize Opportunities

  • Conducted a Complexity and Opportunity Assessment for a insurance brokerage company that enabled a them to implant standardized processes and reduce implementation time for product launches.
  • Assessed outsourcing opportunities and evaluated service levels from corporate and shared functions of a financial services company, to recommend a plan for cost reductions of 35%.
  • Facilitated value-stream mapping exercises for a pharmaceutical company that identified gaps in process capabilities and provided the client with well-articulated strategic goals. These exercises allowed the client to respond in a timely and effective way to changes in the marketplace, especially in the realm of government pricing changes.
  • Assessed the capabilities of IT core processes for an insurance company that led to well-defined goals and a control plan that mitigated the risks associated with change.
  • Developed and implemented an MS Access-based program that provided managers of a healthcare delivery system with a tool to measure staff productivity, as well as a means to link to incentive and performance-based compensation. Created assessment tools for measuring recruitment and retention efforts for professional specialties, especially those related to increasing workplace diversity.
  • Optimize Process

  • Deployed Lean and Six Sigma initiatives in a variety of industries including financial, healthcare, and pharmaceutical, diversified manufacturing, and medical devices.
  • Facilitated cross-functional teams charged with redesigning processes for several healthcare providers. Recommendations addressed lab delivery systems, transportation delivery, operating room delivery, rehabilitation services, and radiology reporting. These engagements improved the quality of service, reduced operating expenses and costs, and increased employee morale.
  • Conducted Quality Function Deployment exercises for new services for a healthcare delivery system, leading to innovative services that were easy to implement and effective when the client made them operational.
  • Influence Culture

  • Helped transform the operations of a multi-billion dollar benefits outsourcing company by assessing opportunity, analyzing work processes and jobs, redesigning organizational structure, and managing change. This led to increased productivity, reduced operating costs, and improved quality.
  • Sustain Change

  • Developed and implemented a Balanced Scorecard strategic management structure for a healthcare delivery service. This comprehensive tool allowed senior management to respond to issues regarding financial performance in a timely and an effective manner.
  • Designed and implemented process management with an Environmental Health and Safety group to lead to improved organization measurements and performance accountabilities.
  • Rini's publications include a chapter, "Six Sigma and Its Application in Different Industries and Functions" in Rath & Strong’s Six Sigma Leadership Handbook, (John Wiley: 2003), and "Six Sigma in Corporate Law," Six Sigma Forum Magazine, November 2004.
