Where's My Bed?SM Simulation
Where’s My Bed?SM is a role-playing simulation of a process where participants improve the throughput of a patient from the Emergency Room to discharge or admit. Designed for business leaders (such as service delivery/program directors, managers from nursing, social services, laboratory, radiology to name a few, directors of quality improvement) who want to deliver the best care to their patients, this workshop will teach the participants how to achieve breakthrough and facilitate process-centric thinking to patient care.
How it Works
The simulation is based on a fictional hospital’s process from first appearance of the patient to an Emergency Room to patient being discharged or admitted to an in-patient setting. Conducted in two to four rounds, the simulation requires a minimum of 20 participants. DMAIC concepts are introduced during each round.
What You Will Learn
By the end of the day, participants will:
- learn the basic language of Lean and Six Sigma
- achieve a basic understanding of DMAIC methodology
- how the patient drives the work-flow and care
- understand how to provide value that is meaningful to patients
- discover how ambiguous, unclear, undefined processes deter breakthroughs
-
recognize how data can drive performance
